Neil Patrick Harris surprises many as he kicks off the Academy Awards with a song-and-dance musical opener for the 2010 Oscars held at the Kodak Theater on Sunday (March 7) in Hollywood.
Neil, who hosted the Tonys and Emmys in the past, wore a black sequin three piece tuxedo, white shirt and bow tie by Dolce & Gabbana during the performance.
Earlier in the week, rumors were flying that Neil was going to perform at the Oscars. But those rumors were presumably squashed based on his Twitter.
“I will not be performing a duet with Martin Short to open the Oscars,” Neil tweeted. “Misinformation, I’m afraid.”
After his surprise performance, Neil got back on his Twitter and quipped
“I told you I wasn’t doing a duet…”
If you haven’t seen Neil’s opening number, you can see it on the Oscars website.
